8 Weeks Old Today

Today is Quin's eight week birthday. We can't believe it's been that long already. It's flying by WAY too fast. Last night Quin slept for 8 1/2 hours. It's getting to be a little too long for our taste, so we'll start getting him up a little earlier to eat. We go to bd early enough that even at 8 hours, we still get up to feed him and go back to bed, so we might as well just feed him earlier.

8 Hours

Quin has been "sleeping through the night" for about a month now. And by that I mean he sleeps for about 6-7 hours, then gets fed, then sleeps until it's time for us to wake up. I suppose we could technically not get up at all if we didn't go to bed at 9 or 10 PM.

But last night, for the first time, Quin went ALL NIGHT. We went to bed at 10, and he slept until it was time to get up. And he still wasn't fussy, we had to wake him up! It was total and complete bliss.

I tell you, we better not have a second child. If we do, that one is bound to be an absolute terror as payment for having such a good baby the first time.

Thrush

thrush
n.

A contagious disease caused by a fungus, Candida albicans, that occurs most often in infants and children, characterized by small whitish eruptions on the mouth, throat, and tongue, and usually accompanied by fever, colic, and diarrhea.
Sounds like fun huh? That's the latest episode in the Quin saga. Want to know what else sucks? It infects mom...right where the little man gets his dinner. I'll let you do the math and tell you that it's painful. We don't know where it came from, but it's common. Elizabeth called the doctor and he didn't even need to see her, he just called in a prescription after talking to her on the phone. Then she called the pediatrician, and they did the same for Quin.

He doesn't like his medicine!

Feeding Issues- Part 2

Well, we had to go see the lactation consultant again. I just could not seem to make any progress on my own. I really liked the consultant that we saw today, and this time I was sure to try it by myself. Things do seem to be going better, but we still have a lot of work to do.

Phun With Fotos!

We've started taking portraits of Quintin like crazy. Why would we want to take him to some expensive portrait studio where they'll only get us a few decents shots when we can take unlimited shots at home and get just the right cute little faces?

I went to Precision Camera in Austin and bought a studio lighting package. At first, sticker shock set in. Then I started thinking about the money saved in the long run by doing our own photos and saving $15 for an 8x10. Then I thought about the unlimited creative possibilities. Money became no object!

I'll let you be the judge of the result.
