Our Little Flower Boy

The bluebonnets are out in full bloom here in central Texas. And for those of you who are Texans, you know what that means, everyone comes out in droves to photograph their babies until all the flowers get trampled to death and there are no more left. So we got in on the action before the flowers got smushed and got a couple hundred shots of Quin. We plan to get more, but here's a sampling from our first session. To see all 40 photos, check out Quin's Picasa portraits album. They're at the bottom.

Sleepy Head

Quin has found a new place to take naps...

...In his Jumperoo.

I guess the bouncing is soothing and rhythmic, causing him to fall asleep. It is entertaining to watch because he will continue to bounce after falling asleep. Even if the music starts playing again, he usually won't wake up. Sometimes we still have trouble getting Quin to nap in his crib, but if we let him play, he falls right to sleep. At least we know one way to get our boy to sleep during the day!

Kisses

Quin has now discovered his own way of kissing. He opens his mouth as wide as he can, places his hands on the sides of your face, and goes in for the kiss. Sometimes he hits your mouth, but other times he misses. Sometimes he is gentle, other times he is not so gentle. Every time, it is adorable!

Marchmas

Well, we are back from celebrating Marchmas! This was our first family trip and Quin was a pretty good traveler. Everyone was happy to see Quin (and I suppose Tim and I as well).

While out in LA, Quin had a lot of adventures:

Quin got to experience his first Marchmas (along with the rest of us)! This must have overloaded his senses, especially since he received a yodeling goat from GG and Grandpa. When the goat first sang he wasn't sure what to think of it, but he loves it now. Quin got so many toys that we had to ship them all back. Quin got to meet more of his family while in LA. He finally got to meet his Aunt Heather and his great grandparents. It was really nice to have everyone together, even if it was for just a day. After all, isn't that what Marchmas is all about?

Quin got to go to the Aquarium of the Pacific. He absolutely loved watching the fish. I was a little unsure what he would think of it, but it was great. He enjoyed the big floor to ceiling tanks the most, especially those filled with lots of colorful fish. He had a great time standing up against the tanks, held by the back of his overalls, banging on the glass (undoubtedly scaring the poor fish). At the end of the day, he got a few new toys and books which we shipped home for him.

Quin got to go up to Big Bear and see his Grandma Donna and Grandpa Norm. While there, he decided that he likes to sleep on his tummy! Who would have thought that this boy would EVER like to sleep on his tummy. Grandma put him down for a nap while Tim and I were out snowboarding and when we got back he had flipped over and was sucking his thumb. Now, we can't get him to stay on his back! Consequently, he manages to scoot around in the crib so much that every now and then he gets himself stuck in the corner and cannot get out.

Aside from a few minor sleep issues, the trip was great. We will miss the family, but hopefully they will all be able to come see Quin (and Tim and I) soon!

Christmas In March

So what kind of weirdos are we? We don't even celebrate Christmas in December. Tomorrow we leave on an 11 day trip to southern California to visit my side of the family for Christmas. We stopped traveling at Christmas a couple of years ago because it's just too hectic and not worth the extra headache and cost. This is especially true now that we have Quin.

So you won't see anything from us for a while. We'll have lots of new pictures when we get back though, and we'll be sure to post the best of them.

To help tide you over, here's a picture of Quin having some mandatory nekkid time after a bath a couple weeks ago. He loves him some nekkid time.

7 Months

Quin hit the seven month mark today. It was a pretty uneventful day. Elizabeth went to a kick boxing class while Quin and I had a daddy-son day, or at least a daddy-son couple of hours. The weather was beautiful, and I thought it was a great opportunity to get outside and take a few pictures under the big oak tree in our front yard (by that I mean the tree that's ten feet tall rather than the nine footer). I then got crackin' at doing a brake job on our car. Yeah. I just love working on the cars. Especially when it takes time away from my babies. Too bad Quin isn't old enough to help me with that yet.

There really hasn't been anything all that special going on in Quin's life lately. He's just busy being a mischievous little critter. He's falling in love with his new Jumperoo, even more so than before. His little legs continue to perform shows every time he's in it.

7 new photos added to Quin's portrait album.
