Way Overdue: New Pictures

Way overdue. I know, we've been a little bad about posting new pictures lately. Heck, no one who doesn't live here in Austin has even seen Quin with more than one tooth! He has four now, and there's a new photo here to prove it. So instead of giving a bunch of details in this post, how about a few photos?

General Update

Quin has been doing a lot lately, so I figured it was time for a general update...

He seems to be gaining weight like crazy since we switched to formula. We will find out on August 6th how much he weighs, but he definitely gets heavy when I carry him around all day! He has been doing great taking a bottle. I think we were really lucky that the breastfeeding to bottle transition went smoothly for him. He was a bit upset for the first few days, but now is doing great.

Quin loves to clap and has been doing it for about two and a half months. At the very utterance of the word "Yeah!" he gets extremely excited and wildly claps his hands! He is obviously proud of himself for his accomplishment, so he gets even more excited and claps faster. It is the cutest thing to watch.

He has also improved his ability to wave. When we say Bye-Bye and wave to him, he gets excited and waves back. He sometimes gets overly excited and waves with both hands, but he gets the idea.

Standing has been occurring with more regularity. If he is tired of the toys on his play mat and wants something new out of his toy box, he pulls himself up and tries to grab something else. He has actually walked around the outside (while holding on) once, but I am sure he didn't realize the significance of his actions. He also loves to pull himself up and stand on Tim or I. I am sure that he will be walking in the next few months.

He is also beginning to give high fives. If you put your hand up in the air and ask for a high five, he will gently tap your hand with his. He hasn't quite figured out that it works best when his hand is flat, but he is getting the idea.

Quin has gotten really good at drinking from a sippy cup. We have been using a cup called the Nuby, which is unique because it has a soft silicone straw. We now bring water with us wherever we go and he happily sucks away if he gets thirsty. It is really nice to be able to hand him a cup and have him drink without help. He is also getting better at using a regular cup with a straw if I happen to forget a sippy cup.

New things seem to be happening daily. It is amazing to see how fast he is developing and learning. Quin really is becoming a little boy with an adorable personality and opinions of his own.

Ready Set Play!: Video

When we were at Ready Set Play! we took a little video. Extra bonus: if you haven't seen Quin crawl since his first "Learning to Crawl" video, prepare to be shocked and awed!

Back For More Fun!

Since Tim didn't get to come with Quin and I yesterday, we decided to head back to Ready, Set, Play! for another round of fun! Quin had so much fun yesterday (and Tim was a little jealous that he missed all of the fun), so I figured why not go again. We had even more fun today! Quin was much more comfortable being there, so he was more willing to try different obstacle courses and slides. He was able to crawl through just about everything available.

Fun Fun Fun

Today, we finally made it to Ready, Set, Play! for a short time in the morning. This place is pretty entertaining, even for adults. It is a 15,000 sq ft room filled with inflatable bouncers, slides, and obstacle courses. It is great because there are two areas designed specifically for little kids and babies, and parents are welcome to take babies down the slides or in the bouncy things. When we first got there I was a little unsure if Quin would have fun. He got a little clingy the minute we walked in the door, which I am sure was due to all of the noise and action. The minute he entered the first play area, all of his shyness disappeared!Quin had so much fun that I think we will go back tomorrow!
