Denver Zoo

On Saturday, we ventured to the Denver Zoo. This is an outing that I have been dying to have since we moved here, and we finally made it. I have to say that it lived up to my expectations (oh yeah, and Quin liked it too). It is a great zoo, with all of the usual critters, plus a few extras like newborn Golden Lion Tamarins.

We spent the better part of the day there and were thoroughly exhausted! The zoo is so big that by the end we were speedily walking past the remaining animals and glancing at them. I felt bad not giving all of the animals the attention they deserve, but we were just too tired. Next time we will go around the zoo in the opposite direction.

Unfortunately, we were too busy enjoying the animals, so I really don't have any pictures. Quin really did enjoy it though. In the beginning, he wasn't sure what to think. We started by looking at the mongooses, which I think were pretty cool. They were bouncing around and chasing each other like crazy, but Quin really didn't seem to care. The first animal that he really liked was the polar bear (who happened to be sleeping). Quin seemed to realize that he was looking at a bear and was very excited by it. He also really liked the snakes and birds.

Unfortunately, by the time we hit the monkey area, Quin was done looking. He was hot and tired, and ready to go home. Thankfully, we managed to keep Quin from getting sunburned, however Tim and I were not so lucky. Oh well, better luck with that next time. At least we had fun!

Dancing Baby!

Quin loves to dance; he has loved to dance since day 1. We used to, as part of our daily routine, dance together to a few songs. Now, Quin loves to dance, even if there isn't any music. As he has gotten older, he has changed style. A few weeks ago, his dance style was "driving the car" (while shaking his bottom he would make the sign for car). Now, he swings his arms around and wiggles like crazy. As usual, the video I have doesn't do justice to his style of dance. Regardless, his dancing his pretty cute. See for yourself...

Elmo

Quin is rather obsessed lately with Elmo. I made the mistake of buying him two Elmo videos for Easter, and now all he wants is Elmo. All day, all night. As a rule, Quin doesn't really get to watch TV, however I have been making an exception for Elmo, and only on the computer (somehow in my mind that is better than him actually watching it on the TV- crazy, I know). Lately, however, he simply looks at the laptop and begins to throw tantrums for Elmo. In fact, as I am writing this blog post, he is standing beside me asking to watch Elmo.

The newest addition to this obsession: Elmo slippers. He loves them! See the video for yourself to see just how cute he is...

More No-No

Yes, I realize that it is already the second week in April, but perhaps Mother Nature didn't get the memo. Last night, it snowed again. In fact, we have had more snow in the last two weeks than we have had since we moved here in January. From what I understand, that is how spring works here. Lots of wet no-no. Are these considered April showers? Do we still get May flowers? I guess we will have to just wait and see!

Since we got more snow, and this could be the last good snow for the season, I figured that Quin and I should venture out into it and play for a bit. So we did!
Quin has gotten much better at walking in his big, clunky, heavy snow boots. As usual, the highlight of playing in the snow for Quin is the fact that he gets to eat it. He seems to have a mild obsession with eating cold things. Not only does he love to eat snow, but he also loves ice. Getting dressed is still a bit of a production, although he has figured out that if he sits still and lets me dress him, he gets to go play. He actually did really well at leaving his gloves on today. That is usually our biggest struggle when playing outside. Today, the hardest part was coming inside. Poor Quin didn't want the cold, wet fun to come to an end. After 45 minutes of playing in the snow, it was time to come in and warm up. We shared a cup of hot chocolate (which was more like lukewarm water with a hint of chocolate that we had to drink through a straw) and we were then both ready for a nap, although only one of us actually got to take one.

Dogs

For the past few weeks we have been watching Chloe and Patches for Carl and Gwen. They have been trying to get their house ready to sell, and we have really missed having dogs, so we figured that it was only logical for us to dog sit. To be honest, we never really thought about how Quin would feel about the new dogs. Rather than trying to convey Quin's feelings towards the dogs, I will let see for yourselves in this most recent video:

Is this boy a dog lover, or what?!!

(Yes, Chloe is on the couch)

I have to say that I have really enjoyed having dogs again too. It is so nice to invite them in your lap to cuddle (even if they are massive dogs who just so happen to think they are dachshunds).

Great Success!

Tonight, Quin made a HUGE accomplishment...he used his potty seat for the first time!! I won't go into the messy details, but be proud of our big boy!! Prior to tonight, he thought that his potty seat was only good for music (we have a singing potty seat that he figured out will sing if he turns it over and pushes the buttons on the bottom, instead of the intended method...pee).

Now, however, he knows what the potty is really for. I am so proud of him, but now we have created a monster! Every time he goes into the bathroom he wants to sit on his potty. This is great, but do I have to take his diaper off every time he wants to sit on it!? (I know, I have to.) That is a lot of off and on with the diaper!
