Trial Run

This past weekend, Quin got to spend his first night away from Tim and I.  We had a show to do for our photography business and decided that Quin could stay with Papa and GG Friday night.  This worked as a great trial run considering Quin will be staying with them for two weeks while we are in Europe!  Quin did great.  They played in the snow, chased the dogs, and took naps.  Quin even got to stay up past his bedtime!  I know one night is nothing when compared to two weeks, but at least this was a success! I think it was harder on Tim and I than Quin.  I don't even want to think about how hard it is going to be to be away from him for two weeks! At least I can rest a little easier knowing that Quin did great with one night away!  Bonus: I know Quin will be very happy to see us when we get home, just as we will be ecstatic to see him.

Dogs

Even though we don't have any dogs at the moment, we occasionally watch Patches and Chloe for Carl and Gwen.  We are more than happy to be dog sitters. In fact, we can't wait until we have another puppy of our own (we are going to adopt one of Chloe's when she has a litter)!

Quin loves dogs of all shapes and sizes.  He is always overjoyed when Patches and Chloe come for a visit; he is equally sad when they leave.  They actually just went home yesterday after a 10-day visit and Quin has been asking me all day where they are and when they will be back.

Unfortunately, Quin has moments when he isn't as nice to the dogs as he should be.  There is the occasional scurrying of feet as Quin runs into Patches with his toy airplane, as well as the sliding of an 80 lb lump of white fur as Chloe tries to turn the corner under hot pursuit.  I am sure this is normal 2-year old behavior and for the most part Quin is great with them.  He loves to give them hugs and kisses and even asks them to come play with him.  Best of all, Patches and Chloe love Quin.

Soccer

For Quin's second birthday, my dad got him a soccer ball.  Until recently, he would throw it around a little here and there, but never really played with it.  About a month ago, that all changed; Quin loves soccer now! He can actually kick it with both feet and loves to play with it at the park, exhausting all of us!  I played soccer growing up and still love it, so if he wants to play soccer, I am all for it.  I am more than happy to be the soccer mom who is at every practice and game with orange slices and a cooler!  Of course, if he doesn't continue his interest in soccer, that is fine too.  For now though, we play just about every day.
